Quest Kickboxing Academy

Kickboxing is a contact sport, but coaches and officials’ only priority is the safety of the fighters. If a fighter is overpowered, the judge, referee and/or table officials will stop the fight immediately. We also have light-contact and semi-contact modes which is firm and controlled. Fighters are not allowed to fight in full-contact fights until they are deemed fit and ready to do so. Instructors will allow fighters in the ring only when they have experience in the light-contact mode.

We accept children from the age of 6 years. We do have the odd younger ones which is between 4-5 years old, but they lose interest very quickly and want to start playing after just a few minutes at our kiddies corner where they can also entertain themselves (while the parents train).

We train on Monday -, Tuesday - & Thursday evenings from 18h30. We have a 45min cardio class followed by the sparring session for competitive and non-competitive fighters

We have different packages which range between R140 per person per month to R220 per person per month. Family packages are cheaper and we offer discount for annual pre-paid arrangements. Please contact us for more details.

Yes, certainly! Majority of our members have joined our gym for fitness reasons and in the process also learn some self-defence. Our gym is a social club with serious fighters.

Yes you can. Some members who have joined, started sparring just for fitness and to gain some experience. They now also compete once they realized they can be competitive and it’s not as dangerous as they perceived it to be.

We offer MMA but our fighters are more interested in stand-up fighting. If someone wants to do some grappling we do train with them.

We do have sessions dedicated for boxing cardio, training and sparring only. Our cardio members also do some sparring against our fighters just to get the feeling what boxing is all about. Our fighters don’t fight back during these fun sessions and focus mainly on their footwork, distance and movement. After the boxcercise session our fighters proceed with boxing sparring.

Sport Karate includes all the kickboxing training and fitness, but the sparring is limited to semi-contact / points fighting. This mode is similar to karate where the fight stops as soon as a fighter scores a legitimate point on the body or the head. The fighter with the most points win the fight. This is very popular with our younger fighters.

We usually have 3 regional tournaments and a national tournament each year. Between these big tournaments we also have a development tournament to introduce new fighters to the sport, some inter-club events and a few formal fight nights for the more experienced fighters. On ad hoc basis there are international teams visiting our country and we send teams to other countries to give our fighters some international experience.

To be considered for these events, the national champions in their respective divisions are invited to participate. These fighters also participate in world championships every alternate year, depending if they senior or junior fighters. WAKO is our internationally affiliated organization.
